I want. All of us do
I become what I want, and
so do you
Like a car’s engine
desire drives us
in the direction of our wants
The Devil’s playground, some say
the root of all suffering
Uncontrolled, victimized by our desire
Too much wanting
and wanting for wanting’s sake
surely leads us all astray
Yet, what is left
when all desire, taken away?
Should we even want
an end to our wanting?
Can we end what is
at the very seat of our soul?
Surely what brings us pleasure
also brings us pain
True of time, money, even laughter
and so much more
A price for everything
no matter what you name
Temper we can
how much we want in life
Done best through sacrifice…
Saying no to more
Passing on second helpings
Giving to others with less
Yet, with our temperance
is there ever an end to wanting?
Paul: Thanks. Sorry it’s hard to see. This is a new blog skin. I think I will wear it awhile, unless folks have problems with it. Thanks for your comment.
Nice – really like that last line, so evocative. Don, I apologize for this and future bad typing – real trouble with dark backgrounds, part of my disability and looks much darker than it was! REally do love that last line.
Andrew: Thanks. I agree. Glad you like the new blog look.
Lahari: Thanks for stopping an commenting.
I’m afraid there will never be an ending — at least on this end.
I like the new look!
Unique and thought provoking poem.
Thanks Floots and Aurora, I appreciate your comments. So true, Floots…so very true.
Definitely a good question.
i think that we should all want – to know
curiosity/exploration is what drives us
to find ourselves and understand others
good one don
Dan: Thanks. I thought this would promote some thought in your mind.
