Sometimes life seems too hard
All I wanna do is run away from me
Sometimes pressures get me down
All I want is just to be free
Sometimes I get lost in life
Forgettin’ my reason to be
Sometimes I get stuck midstream
Life washes over me
Sometimes there’s more dark than light
It’s no wonder I can’t see
Sometimes the music stops when I’m dancin’
My legs collapse under me
Sometimes it seems life’s questions
Bring unwelcomed answers…
Those takin’ the better part of me
Sometimes life seems too hard
All I wanna do is run away from me
Sometimes life seems too hard
All I wanna do is run away from me
Note: Another one written back in the
early 1970s when poetry was music.

Hi Elise,
Your posted email doesn’t work by the way.
It is my poem, and therefore written by Don Iannone, a poet in Cleveland, Ohio, who is the author of three books of poetry. My latest book, Chasing Cosmic Butterflies, was released in February 2016. I wrote the poem in 1971, during my sophomore year at the University of Arizona. The style of the poem was written with the hopes it would get picked up as the lyrics for a song. It was not turned into a song. The poem speaks to what we feel at times about the difficulties we face in life, and often create for ourselves and others, and how sometimes we would rather run away from our struggles rather than face them.
Good luck to your daughter. What grade is she in?

The music of 70 …calling u Don
What are words?
Bringers of joy.
Destroyers of friendship.
Messengers of love.
Partners of hate.
Thiefs of the soul.
Let words be
one with your heart.
Let words be
spouses of happines.
Let words be containers
of peace.
In the beginning was
the word and the word
was One.
– Fernando Soave
