Mind Coming to Rest

A tossed flat stone
Shatters the pond’s smooth surface
Ripples, extending outward
From the center to nowhere
Eventually all disappear–
The stone, ripples, all striving to rest
Stillness returns
As sunlight graces pink and white waterlilies
And the mind comes to rest
As all thoughts cease
