The Sun’s Partial Loop

slow moving late afternoon sun
slips unnoticed
through twilight’s open out-stretched fingers
beyond salmon-pink sunset clouds
finally swallowed whole by hungry night darkness
till patiently waiting dawn lights morning candles
celebrating a new day
